The Oracle Queen by Kendare Blake (Three Dark Crowns 0.1)

This was an interesting addition to the Fennbirn world. Queen Elsabet actually wanted to help her people and be involved with helping. She was thrown in prison because she did not want to listen and be controlled by her Black Council. She tried to make a fair council that had poisoners, elemantals, naturalists, war gifted, and sight gifted and it blew up in her face. Francesca Arron has Gilbert, Elsabets foster brother poison her so her sight gift will be useless while Francesca can get her way without being caught. In the end Francesca has Bess, Elsabets maid and friend killed, Rosamund Astere and her entire house killed, Catherine Howe and her entire family killed, and she burns Jonathan Denton and his family. She does this because she knows that they would have supported Elsabets decision to arrest her and Francesca couldn't have that. Francesca then blames all the deaths on Elsabet and keeps her locked in her tower until the new set of triplets can be born. No one knows the true story of the Oracle queen so they always drown the queen gifted with sight. They do this to protect the island and the queen herself. They believe that the sight gift in a queen drives them mad.

That is total bs but what can they do now?
