So, I decided to give Cassandra Clare another chance. Very glad I did. A few years ago I tried to read The Mortal Instruments, I only got half way through City of Ashes. I found the Shadow World interesting, but could not quite get into the series. I do plan on continuing the series. I actually bought City of Ashes and City of Glass. I read Lady Midnight last year and LOVED it!!!!! Since there are a lot of spoilers in The Dark Artifices, I did not read Lord of Shadows, though I will, you can count on that.

So, I bought Clockwork Angel. It took me about 2 sittings to read it. Now this, this series I am in love with. I personally am a Jessa shipper.

What is this book about? A young lady, Theresa, Tessa moves to London after her Aunt Harriet passes away. She is going to live with her brother Nathaniel, Nate. When she gets off the ship, a pair of old ladies are there to escort Tessa to her new home. The ladies are sisters known as the Dark Sisters. They kidnap Tessa. Tessa is held by these ladies for weeks. The reason they took her? She has gifts. Tessa is rescued and encounters the Shadowhunters in hopes to find her brother.

***SPOILERS***

Tessa is a shape changer, known as an Eidolon. Know one knows why Tessa isn't marked by a Demon even though she is. The Dark Sisters are an Eidolon and a Warlock. The Eidolon teaches Tessa how to use her abilities by force. When the sisters decide Tessa is ready, they call the Magister. The Magister is her fathers old boss, Mr. Mortman. Nate went to London to work for Mortman. Mortman tells Nate that he created Tessa and that she is not human. While Nate is living the fun life, Tessa is kept captive for 6 weeks before Shadowhunters Will and Jem find and rescue her. All Tessa wants to do is find her brother because she is under the impression that he is also being help captive somewhere.

Tessa is allowed to stay with the shadowhunters at their home, the Institute. She shows them all what she can do. He abilities come in handy when a source tells the shadowhunters that de Quincey, the head of the London Vampire Clan is killing humans for fun. In doing so, they are breaking the Accords, which is Law in the Shadow World. Tessa changes into the vampire source and goes to a party where the elicit events happen. She finds her brother. Nate somehow pissed the vampire off. Turns out Mortman gave Nate to the vampire as punishment for Tessa leaving the Dark Sisters. The shadowhunters slaughter most of the vampires at this party and hunt down those who left. Tessa brings Nate back to the Institute. Nate tells the shadowhunters where to find de Quincey and kinda leads them on a wild goose chase. At this point, everyone believes de Quincey is the Magister.

Nate lied. Tessa is unprotected at the Institute because the adult shadowhunters are off going after de Quincey and Jem and Will are going after the Dark Sisters. Mortman uses his automatron creations to enter the Institute. The day or so before, they went after Jem and Tessa, attacked, and left with Jems blood. Only someone with shadowhunter blood can enter the Institute and they had it. The only people left were Tessa, the servants Thomas, Agatha, and Sophie, and another shadowhunter Jessamine who wants nothing to do with the shadowhunting. Agatha is killed, Thomas and Jessamine try and hold off the automatrons while Sophie and Tessa run for the Sanctuary. That is when Nate makes his apperance as a bad guy who is in on the whole thing.

Mortman is trying to find Tessa while Thomas dies fighting and Jessamine leaves the fight to hide with Tessa and Sophie. Mortman finds Tessa and threatens to kill Jessamine and Sophie if she doesn't go with him. She tells Mortman that she won't run if he lets the others go. Then they talk. Mortman tells Tessa that she isn't human and was made for him, that her mother didn't know she slept with someone who wasn't her husband, and that her mother also did not know what she was. When Tessa starts to backup, Mortman asks his men to grab Sophie and has an automatron start to sufficate her. Tessa grabs a knife and threatens to kill herself and does. . . Well sort of. She changes into a previous person with lots of blood. Mortman believes she is dead. Will finally arrives just in time for Mortman to go poof. Tesaa changes back, Will has an epiphany or something, and the adults come back to find the damage. Tessa gets to stay. End of Book One.

My thoughts.

Nate is an awful humanbeing. Mortman makes no sense. He is human but practically rules the Shadow World and the Pandemonium Club. I need to know why Tessa was made, how Jem doesn't die since I know he lives, and what is Will's problem? SO many questions, so little answers. Will Charlotte get to keep leading the Institute? I NEED ANSWERS PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
